About LIRI

Who we are

Life Redefined International (LIRI) is a Non-Government Organization with an of empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged youth to thrive economically as well have better mental and sexual health. LIRI adopts an integrated approach having our work premised on capacity building, service provision, capital and resource support, peer/group support, referrals and collaborations as well as advocacy.LIRI is currently operating in Buyende, Luwero, Kumi, Paliisa, Kiboga and Kyankwanzi districts.

To empower youth through capacity building, collaboration and research in socio economic participation, mental health care and support and Sexual reproduction health rights.

Our Programs

1. Empower Them

Empower Them is aimed at increasing economic opportunities for youth capacity development, capital support and marketing. LIRI focuses on opportunities for sustainable income generation for youth through initiatives including skills development in entrepreneurship, agriculture and value addition, digital literacy, vocational skills, saving groups and providing youth with startup kits and capital for investment. 

In skills development, LIRI focuses vocational skills, recycling waste into useful saleable products as well as renewable and clean energy innovations. Agribusiness and value addition is another key economic opportunity that LIRI supports the youth through to profitably participate in agricultural value chain focusing on better agronomic practices, access to land and better seeds, adding value, bulking and trade. 

LIRI empowers youth through financial literacy trainings, digital skills and establishing village saving groups to mobilise local capital for investment. 

Our Programs

2. Wellbeing 360

Wellbeing 360 is aimed at increasing access and utilization of better sexual reproductive health rights and services for youth. The program addresses the need for increased investment in the provision of Adolescent and youth friendly SRHR services.

LIRI therefore works with health centres and community health actors to ensure that youth especially girls and young women have access to family planning services, age appropriate SRHR information for adolescents, access to HPV immunization by young girls as well as HIV/STI prevention and treatment services through awareness raising, referrals and periodic health boot camps.

Using community-led approaches, LIRI also organizes advocacy campaigns for establishment youth friendly corners health facilities and SRH corners in schools and communities. Moreover, LIRI organizes child protection and safeguarding sessions as well as advocate and campaign against teenage pregnancy and early marriages.

Moreover, LIRI works towards the 95-95-95 strategy of HIV prevention through HIV Counselling and Testing community outreaches, distribution of HIV IEC materials, support linkages of identified positive clients into care and screen for TB services as well as follow up on tested clients and index testing / partner assisted notification .

Our Programs

3. Mind Matters.

This program focuses on promoting better mental health and emotional well-being of youth. Mental wellbeing is important to young people. Ensuring that young people live a happy and productive life is our major concern. The prevalence rate of metal health issue among young people aged 18years and below is at 22.9% according to the recent systematic review of 24 prevalence studies in Uganda.

LIRI therefore aims at increasing awareness and understanding of mental health issues, providing accessible resources for youth struggling with mental health challenges and reducing stigma associated with mental health. Mental Health Education where we carry out workshops and seminars to educate youth about various mental health issues. LIRI conducts counseling Services through peer/group support, one-on-one sessions and referrals. We conduct community awareness raising on mental health to challenge negative stereotypes on mental health to facilitate and encourage open conversations, empathy and peacebuilding LIRI also provides online resources, self-help tools, and information on mental health.

Our approach is through capacity building, partnerships, networking and collaborations, research and learning, education for children with special learning needs and policy influencing. LIRI looks at mental wellbeing and sexual reproductive health, mental wellbeing and learning disabilities, mental wellbeing and socio-economic inequalities, the mind and climate
